Read John 11:41. Jesus is thanking God – and Lazarus is still in the grave. There has not been a miracle yet!
Shouldn’t thanksgiving have come after Lazarus was brought back to life? Jesus teaches a great principle: give thanks for what is about to happen – before it happens. Sing the song of victory before the battle is fought.
What Jesus did makes reasonable sense. The concept is: Praise paves the way for the working of miracles – and since miracles are a result of spiritual power – spiritual power is a result of our faith. Praise can change things!
God is pleased with our praise. Try thanksgiving. Sing a grateful song for the answer that has not yet come. By this, you will find that “it is good to give thanks to the Lord.” P.S. It is ALSO good to sing praise to the Lord. The Sanctuary Choir is looking for a few good voices – just like yours! Come and sing with us Wednesday evenings at 6:30!
