Nita Huntley

As a native of Darlington, I grew up in FBC where my parents and paternal grandparents were members. Having asked Jesus to forgive my sins and accept me into His family in 1960, I learned about being a child of God in Sunday school and YWA. While earning a BA in Social Work from Winthrop University I experienced the power of prayer and the grace of God as I set about to be the black sheep of His family. “If only I could have a white light experience like Paul,” I’d say “then I’d not have so many questions.” In June 1987 I got that white light. While earning a masters in health services administration from the Medical University of South Carolina, a head-on car crash left my windshield shattered and the sun blinding me in the glare of it. Pinned in the car, I thought I was dead. Five months later I had the casts on my right leg and left arm removed. As my body healed God sent church family to minister to my spirit. They were still praying…

Psalms 37:4-5 says “Delight yourself in the Lord (submit to Him), He will give you the desires of your heart.” He allowed me to retire after 33 years of employement with the State of South Carolina. I’m given the priviledge of sharing His Word as the Senior Adult Coordinator for FBC and teacher of a lady’s Sunday School Class. Answering my love of travel, He has allowed me to take that Word to Brazil, Nicaragua, England, Scotland, Poland, Russia, Moldova, Kyrgyzstan, and India on short term missions. In 2006 I received an appointment to the North American Mission Board and serve as a Mission Service Corps missionary to the Welsh Neck Baptist Association. That has opened a door for me to speak and coordinate mission trips all over North America.
